ForEver

ForEver was a site-specific participatory installation created during a summer festival in Germany. Built in an open field, the work took the form of a simple wooden structure wrapped entirely in black felt, creating a contemplative space apart from the activity of the festival.

A narrow opening along the ridge of the roof referenced Leonard Cohen's lyric, "There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." As sunlight entered through this slit, it slowly moved across the dark interior, marking the passage of time and suggesting hope through imperfection.

Visitors were invited to write wishes, memories, prayers, or longings on paper stars and hang them from hooks suspended overhead. Over ten days, hundreds of stars accumulated, forming a collective constellation of human hopes and dreams. An infinity symbol and meditation cushions encouraged reflection, while a specially commissioned musical composition played continuously throughout the installation.

Through light, sound, and participation, ForEver became a vessel for remembrance, vulnerability, and connection. Many visitors left deeply moved, revealing a profound need for spaces that foster contemplation, shared humanity, and the enduring power of hope.
