Memorial Pavillion
This project explores architecture as an ephemeral experience — a structure suspended between land, sea, light, and movement. Conceived as a pavilion of gathering and reflection, the design seeks to dissolve the boundary between shelter and environment, creating a space that feels both grounded and transient.
The form emerges from a study of tension, balance, and fluidity. Elevated planes and angled structural members evoke the imagery of sails, driftwood, or fragments shaped by wind and water, allowing the pavilion to appear as though it has been captured in motion. The composition intentionally avoids rigid symmetry, embracing instead the unpredictability and dynamism of natural forces.
Positioned at the edge of the water, the pavilion frames the horizon as a central experiential element. Visitors move beneath the suspended canopy through shifting perspectives of light, shadow, and openness, becoming continuously aware of the surrounding landscape. The architecture encourages pause, interaction, and contemplation — transforming circulation into a sensory journey.
Material contrast reinforces the dialogue between permanence and impermanence. The warm translucent enclosure glows as a beacon against the open sky, while the exposed structural supports emphasize lightness, fragility, and balance. Together, these elements create an atmosphere that is both intimate and expansive.
Ultimately, the project aspires to create more than a physical structure; it seeks to become an experience of transition — a place where movement, memory, and environment converge to reconnect people with the elemental qualities of nature and space.
